KGA says good-bye to an old Friend
On Tuesday the 14th of October King George Airport, and Ultralighting in general lost a close friend and supporter. After casting his ballot, and coming by the Airport to say hi to friends Glenn Ursel died later in the evening after enjoying a night out. Glenn became involved in Ultralights right from the beginning, he also owed and Beaver on anphibious floats at one time, in which he spent many many hours at the controls. After becoming a founding member of PUFA he put in countless hours with the organization writing editorials and working on the newletter.
At the time of writing there are no known funeral arrangements.
RIP Glenn Ursel
Oct. Student of the Month, Maria Kovalik
I was born in Ukaraine, travelled through out Europe and ended up in Canada. I have been here for 10 years, (Vancouver for 5). After my bachelors, took a year off to experience what life has to offer aside from school. On my way to crystal beach saw King George Aviation from the highway and decided to go on a fam flight. The fan flight was amazing, nothing I thought it would be and totally fell in love with it. A few months later, I joined the class and love it.
(Pilot Profile) Glenn Pirie
As the child of a Military runway tech., Glenn spent his life around runways and airplanes all over Canada. After giving up the chance as a teenager to get his wings Glenn had to wait until later in life when finances once again allowed him to pursue his love of aviation. With his flight training started in Courtney BC training in a 172 with flight time also on a 185 on floats Glenn soloed with only 11 hours inn his PTR. Since getting his licence Glenn has co-owned a couple of Cessna 150′s while living on Vancouver Island. Now living in the Fraser Valley Glenn has just bought his third airplane. This time it’s a Rans S4/5. Glenn has chosen to keep the plane here at KGA and is now our newest aviator.
Welcome to KGA Glenn.
October’s Delta Airpark breakfast fly-out
This morning (October 12) KGA had four Aircraft meet up at the monthly Delta Airpark breakfast. We were lucky enough to be greated with great weather and the regular group of smiling faces that make up the pilot group of Delta Air Park. For those of you that are interested in attending, Delta hosts this Breakfast every second tuesday of each month and drive in visits are welcome.
